Writing is both an art and a craft, and all writers can acquire the skills needed to improve their work. Whatever your genre, knowing what elements to include and which to avoid both in developing and in revising your manuscript can facilitate the creative process and enhance the quality of the final product. From description, to wise use of detail, to engaging dialogue, this workshop covers the basic ABC’s of good writing, offering practical techniques and suggestions that anyone can use to become a better writer.  Includes handouts. This event is free and open to the public.

Author, Death in Cold Water

Patricia Skalka is the author of Death in Cold Water, winner of this year’s Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award from the Council for Wisconsin Writers. The book is the third volume in the popular Dave Cubiak Door County Mystery series, which also includes Death Stalks Door County and Death at Gills Rock. She is currently working on book four. Skalka turned to fiction following a successful nonfiction career as a Staff Writer for Reader’s Digest, freelancer, ghost writer, writing instructor and book reviewer.
